Hello! Right now you’re reading “The Creator Confidential”, a blog where famous and successful YouTubers share their stories and tips they have for growing a YouTube channel. Today's blog post is something a little bit different from the usual posts. On Instagram one day, one of the readers of this blog gave me the idea of doing a "Get To Know Me". (If you're reading this @itzrumexa, you're the best!) So, this is a little post to introduce myself and this blog to you! It might not be the first post you're reading, but I hope you learn something about me and feel more connected! I asked some of my Instagram followers (follow me @thecreatorconfidential) to send in some questions they might have about me OR the blog... this is the final result!

What gave you the inspiration to start the blog?

I was always really interested in starting something like a business or blog that I could build on my own. Growing up, I listened to this podcast hosted by Guy Raz called "How I Built This", where he interviewed successful business owners to help smaller aspiring start-ups grow and learn from others' mistakes. I was inspired by this, but I didn't really want to make my own blog about business; instead, I wanted to talk about (or write about) something I was actually interested in.

Like so many other people that have grown up in the Internet community, I watched LOTS of YouTube! I saw lots of small YouTubers struggling to grow, and the idea to start the Creator Confidential just popped into my head! At first, I was just going to interview big YouTubers, but I realized that I could help small channels even more by interviewing them, and shifting the spotlight to THEM.

Who is your favorite YouTuber?

Oh my gosh! I have so many different YouTubers that produce absolutely AMAZING videos! My absolute favorite would have to be Ashley AKA "bestdressed". She has such an amazing personality, great style, and her editing is really off the charts! I really recommend that you watch her videos. I also enjoy watching Moya Mawhinney (she's really underrated), Dustin Vuong, Linh Truong, and revisign. My subscriptions are really diverse haha!

Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy playing tennis, hiking with my family, and of course, writing and interviewing people for the Creator Confidential.

What advice would you give to people wanting to start a blog?

Honestly, I feel like so many people don't start a blog because they feel intimidated by it, or they don't think they'll gain enough subscribers, or they think it'll cost too much money, or something like that! I would say: JUST START! It doesn't even have to be that good. Just start building your website/blog! The blog you're reading RIGHT NOW is built on Wix. Literally anyone can start their own blog, if you put enough time and effort into it, it'll eventually grow!

Even though I'm still new at blogging and definitely haven't explored all aspects of it, I really enjoyed starting this blog and hope for the best for the future.

How old are you?

I'm 15 years old :)

What's your personal favorite interview on the blog?

Every single post on this blog is one that I'm proud of and I've enjoyed working with all of the YouTubers featured. They're all incredibly hard-working, talented, and amazing people. However, I would say my personal favorite is the interview featuring Chaunna Diaz. Her story is so motivating and inspiring, and I really hope other people saw it in the same way. In fact, after you finish reading this post, I highly recommend you read her interview if you haven't already <3

The most HELPFUL interviews (with concrete tips for small channels), however, would be from the "YouTube from the Perspective of a Small Channel" series. I feel like interviewing smaller channels was a really great idea, because they shared lots of editing apps, music apps, SEO and tag tips, and much much more!

After interviewing all those YouTubers on the Creator Confidential, what have you learned about starting/growing a YouTube channel?

There has been one recurring theme that has kept coming up time and time again in the interviews. Successful YouTubers NEVER start for the money; they never start in hopes of monetizing their channel and becoming rich or famous. They always start creating videos for some other motive: for Brooke Didas, she wanted to record videos for the memories, for Laura Medley, YouTube was an outlet for her creativity, for Lucrezia Chloe, her channel was a way to talk about her life. If you're a small channel, and you're trying to become big on YouTube, you should think about why you're REALLY doing YouTube. Is it because you want to become monetized and make money, or is it because you are just having fun?

Doing YouTube for the right reasons is a huge part of most channels' success. Growing on YouTube is slow and hard work; if you're creating your channel for the money it can be discouraging to not see $$$ for years. This leads to less consistent posting, less growth, and this vicious cycle that never stops!
